Wake a Serpent Process by Mr--Jack Wake a Serpent Process by Mr--Jack
Working process for this -

Doing it retroactively always leaves me with fewer steps than if I snapshot as I go, unfortunately, especially on a piece like this where it ends up all being one layer, so there's always bound to be that 'and now just paint it' step in these processes.
But anyways, final image ended up at 6500 px high.
Working time was about 7-8 hours, pretty much only using the second of these brushes, in PS CS4.

Enjoy!

This is awesome sauce!

The only thing that bugs me is that bloody monster head, it just seems a bit to "pasted" in... hmm....

It could be 'cause there's quite a harsh line at the edge of the rock where it's coming out; or at least, something's going on there that means the depth isn't reading quite right.
I'll see what I can do.

Thanks!

Honestly I don't think it's the rock.
I think it's more a matter of the tilt and angle of the head, possibly the placement as well. Maybe try squinting at the overall abstract shapes of the composition and thinking about fluidity of how the eye is drawn around the image. I think the head being fairly dead center at that angle kind of breaks the image up in contrast to the rest of the fluidity of the images comp.
Just my two pennies, don't mean to break balls, I just think this image could be the utter bomb with a few things tworked around:)
