so I get asked a lot 'what brushes do you use?' and I thought I may as well put this up. There's actually only one brush here, but to get the different angles all you have to do is adjust the angle of the brush; making the brush tip rounder will, obviously, round out all the strokes, but leaving it at around 60% roundness can still give a nice variation in size.

Enjoy!

EDIT - I cannot for the life of me remember where I got this other brush so if anyone knows let me know and I'll replace this with a link, but for now—the splodgy brush is the one I use for the majority of my ' painterly' work, and it works especially well for smoke and clouds :)

EDIT - Added the basic square I use, just in case people want it.

hey mr jack, thx for these brushes, started to use them rcently and enjoying them greatly, the variation in the line its soo good, loving everything about them
but having a problem, im using PS cs6 and its crashing alot, my PS never crashes so im pretty sure its the brush, the thin one, trying to recreate the brush by my one, but not working, seems to be a bit tricky to create
do you have a cs6 version, or maybe its my pc, do you have some idea of what can be?

Consistently, time and time again, your splerdge brush stays at the top of my most used brush list. I really do think it has the perfect settings.

I really like the narrow brushes as they have a 'conte' feel to it. They are comfortable to sketch around with (especially the vertical brush). I like the square brush too because it is very versatile;its like a 2-in-1 brush because it handles curves and straight lines with ease and is great for painting. Drawing with these as we speak. Thanks for sharing.

I was curious, so I've decided to try your brushes.
they are really cool, and it's a good compromise for me, between two of mine. I have a normal calligraphic brush and a brush with pen pressure, but round.
Your calligraphic brush is just perfect for me because in traditionnal art, I love to play with markers with this style of... "brush" and this is what I was looking for. :)

Thanks a lot for sharing, It was really funny to play with.

Thanks for sharing, I've been in a HUGE rut with my coloring and I've been trying to go the "painterly route" and I thin these will hep me get away from flat, smooth shading and textures!

All photoshop .abr files are compatible with GIMP :) Just add them to the folder you usually paste brushes in, restart GIMP and get cracking!

... i.e. Resources > Share > gimp > 2.0 > brushes
