Quick Mask Tutorial by Mr--Jack Quick Mask Tutorial by Mr--Jack
I get a lot of questions about this whenever I use it in a video or in a wip process example, so I thought I may as well go over it in a bit more depth. It feels like something simple, and is very easy to use once you get the hang of it, but I never know how confident people are in PS so it might be helpful. Shouldn't go around making assumptions.

Enjoy! And hope it helps.
I'm working in Photoshop CS3 here.
Keyboard shortcuts should translate fine, just substituting ctrl for ⌘.

As long as you understand the basics just playing around with it is probably the best way to get the hang of it :)
Cheers!

Ah, most excellent. Didn't know about the invert part; that'll be most useful!

Also, "⌘-clicking a layer icon and loading its selection is on a PC"

You were right, it's just Ctrl-Click.

Not particularly; it's not a white lamb (or, not any more), and short fur like that doesn't really need it, it's not supposed to be shiny all over—and that wasn't the point of the tut anyway, so I didn't want to get carried away.

hmm, ok..

i wondered why there are no highlights at the places where the hip bones are.

I'm a but confused on how you "load" the lineart to remove the quick mask that's out of boundary. I tried using magic wand tool, but it doesn't work properly... What do I do?

Fair enough—If you've made a new layer previously which is the just the background filled with a flat colour, then to load that selection while in quick mask mode you just command-click on the layer icon of that layer. Hope that makes sense.
