Yep, so I've been a little slow-with-the-updates lately on the Zerg front, but I haven't given up! So the beginnings of the air units... (No-one remind me about Broodlings, by the way, I do know they're still missing . . .)
I think it's a little spherical overall, but I had fun with it.
Fantastic work, as always! Your technical skills are always mind-blowing, you render form perfectly and do wonderful color variations. And I love how you can take a small sprite and a few picture references and manage to turn it in to a detailed and believable creature!
As far as critique goes, I just think that perhaps going for a more bloated, grotesque look (Like you had with the larvae, infestor, and baneling) would help add to the creepiness of the zerg, rather than just making them giant bugs. If something's cool and dangerous looking, it's a creature. But if it's visually disturbing, it's a monster.
Overall though, great work! Can't wait to see the rest of the series!
really vibrant colors, probably playing on the color system in star craft, love the details, and sense of depth you create with atmosphere
on a side note i always hated the overlords cause they seem so cool but they cant do jack they r like the minivans of zerg! maybe i just dont play starcraft right....
Ah man I saw all your zerg work last year on another site. This image inspired me to try and learn to paint digitally myself, my rather less successful attempt is actually on here. This and the Larvae, I love the pinks and purples.
