Ice Planet 2002 by Mr--Jack Ice Planet 2002 by Mr--Jack
Even though it apparently didn't run for that long, the Ice Planet lego sets were definitely some of my favourites growing up - such an awesome colour scheme, and their theme was just so much fun :D
Something like this has been sitting in my head for ages, and I was really happy to actually finally sit down and get it out.

Ice Planet 2002 is still one of the best space themes Lego ever made! They are starting to use more of that awesome neon orange color again in some of the newer sets! This is a great rendition of the theme. I recognized it immediately!

As I was browsing through your page, I saw this in an article you wrote and thought, "Hey, aren't those the Ice Planet Legos?".

Good memories and great sets. I loved racing through their track in the first Lego Racers too.

Thanks for taking the time to make this. You've brightened my day! :)

I'm still hoping they're going to revive this line at some point... Even though it's almost as old as I am, the few sets I managed to get my hands on are easily some of my favourites. Plus the design and colour-scheme are just so beautiful.

I LOVE your rendition. You captured the tough and bulky look of the line perfectly and translated it to a more detailed world in a beautiful manner. :)

The colour scheme is so awesome, yeah :D I don't think they've ever used that particular neon orange again, either.

So cold the guy needs crotch armor lol

I like the asymmetry with one big glove and one normal sized.

This is great! I was also a big fan of those sets even though I only had a few. They had the coolest color scheme.
Hello, still no way to get a larger version for printing (I can pay) ? :)

Hah awesome! I especially like how despite the more realistic style the figures still retain Lego Like proportions possibly due to the bulky clothing ^^

And I also remember being very fond of this range as a kid =D

Would it be alright to use this for a group cover photo on Flickr? A group of us are trying to put an Ice Planet display together for next year's Brickworld Chicago. Group is here.

So true! Ice planet was great. I would love to see your version of the old space sets. I can't remember the name but the colors where black grey and clear neon green I think.
Mr--Jack Featured By Owner Jun 7, 2015  Professional
I've been thinking about it, just need to get the time!
I believe some of the Blacktron sets were bright green, black and white, and the Space Police were black and grey with clear green (and red accents)

Hello, I would be interested by buying a print. How is it possible ?
Mr--Jack Featured By Owner Apr 8, 2015  Professional
Hi there, sorry for the slow reply; unfortunately at this time I don't have prints available for this piece :(
gregocentrique Featured By Owner Apr 20, 2015

I have been on DA for a number of years and never really comment on too much. This I had to though. This is amazing work. I feel like you got every component of IP2K2 locked down and added so much character and feeling to it. Very, very cool. Wall worthy for sure.

Reddit's /r/alternativeart brought me here. This is the first comment I think I've ever made and it was nostalgia that did it. You, sir, have created something awe-inspiring and beautiful here. My childhood cannot thank you enough.

Mr--Jack, I think it's apparent you really hit a nostalgic nail on the head with this one! And I have to ask, is it possible to get in any higher resolution than this? The bigger the better, of course! Bravo! Huge thanks to you for illustrating one of my favorite lego sets!

Wow, this is amazing. As a kid, my older brother had a lego manual that had a promotional image for this set. I never had it and always wished for it due to it's amazing concept and color scheme. This is beyond what I imagined it as, as a child though, great job! :)

When I saw the thumbnail I was like: "I had a lego set with exactly that colour scheme when I was young".. so I open it up and BAM!! it is the lego set!!!

Awesomely done Luke, the translucent plastic is AMAzing!! :)

Oh man, that piece of work just gives me the best memories, thanks ;)
Willdabeast-0305 Featured By Owner Aug 17, 2014  Hobbyist Writer
I took one look at the thumbnail and knew what it was! Very true about the color scheme-- largely subdued cool and neutral colors like white, blue, and black... and then BAM! Bright, transparent orange visors and chainsaws! It added the right amount of contrast and brightness.
Oh, man. This takes me back. And such an awesome tribute! Excellent work!
Valorius Featured By Owner Aug 7, 2014
I friggin' loved that set back then! Actually, I still do... I was about to buy the Deep Freeze Defender in a rush from a some guy a couple years ago, but I had to prioritize because I was short on money :( Anyway, awesome rendition!
