Booster Progress by Mr--Jack Booster Progress by Mr--Jack
It's easy to do (and takes less forethought than filming it); curious, are these helpful/enjoyable?
Anyways.
process of this piece, about 2 hours, photoshop.

Really like the outcome of this, and seeing the stage by stage process is really nice little bit of development on a little pic like this. Great stuff.

This is very cool, I can see why you changed her leg's position. Looks a lot better like that. Digging those colors! Nice job!

I absolutely love these process instructions :) I admire your work a lot and to get a bit of insight as to how you go about each piece is a great for learning new techniques or having a bit of a revelation. I hope this is encouragement to do more! :D

What brush are you using? You make it look painted, whil the brush that im stuck with is the origional Circle brush for the tablet.

Ah, it's a custom roundish-smeary sort of brush that was included in a brush pack I downloaded from somewhere or another, and it's very handy for this sort of thing.

It's nice to see the steps you go through when doing it, but a guide/video would show is what brushes you use and such.

Cool stuff, I especially like your insectoid type pieces, your method is similar in the way I work, although I have been struggling to get that painted style look and still failing. I have seen the brushes you use in your gallery and not to sound retarded but what settings do you use them at apart from the roundness. Also wich version of PS do you use coz I cant get the settings for the roundness on 7. Would appreciate the help a lot, Thanks

Well after having said with that brush 'I use this for almost everything' the last two pieces didn't use it, they used a softer sort of smeary custom brush that unfortunately I don't the origins of anymore. I use CS3, but if I remember rightly you should have most of the same settings, I think...

[link] might help, if you want, since just explaining it from here without examples is a bit difficult.

Hahaha, thank you for getting the time to reply. Funnily, as soon as I sent you the message I found the settings a few minutes later, but was still confused coz the brush strokes seemed different on the booster piece to when i tried. Now that you mentioned smeared brush it made more sense. I tried smeary round brush using Painter, which I liked but still prefer good all Photoshop and have been hunting to learn how to create that same effect. Thank you for the feedback and keep up the excellent work, I'm on the hunt for smeary brush

i love that you post all these tutorials, most artists just post em and move on. i find these things invalueable, whether its for technical knowledge, or just inspiration to start something, i love em. dont hesitate to make everything you do into a tutorial, especially ones involving color like these. ive said it before, but you have such an amazing grasp on that simple looking color wheel, when for me at least, its ALOT more complex than it seems at first glance. my utopia would consist of every artist that i admire posting tutorials as much as you do, seriously i cant praise them enough! great job by the way on this image, as usual.
