"While not at all related to sharks or fish (and being almost entirely land-dwelling), the frightening display of teeth and pointed snout give this little-known creature its common name. About a meter long at full stretch, its main prey are bats; it creates very low sounds with specialised organs on its back, which it then uses to create sonar images, having a highly intricate bone structure to pick up the returning sounds. When it hears a bat close enough it launches itself upwards with its powerful front legs and hits the bat with the specialised 'club' of bone on its lower jaw. A combination of long teeth and a dislocatable jaw ensures it catches the stunned bat as it falls from the air. The protruding lower jaw also protects its somewhat delicate teeth from breaking against rocks, since they lie flat against it while the mouth is closed. Little else is known about the creature, and it either exhibits no sexual dimorphism or the few specimens seen have all been of one sex."
Enjoy. Bit over 2 hours, mostly photoshop. (never was great with names)
that's awesome really like how it works; if you created the creatures in the world, who knows how much more interesting nature would be! lol
anyways, nice lighting for the cave! it's like those documentaries where everything's dark except for the tiny little area the creature's 'dwelling'. Also like how you drew it almost about to swallow the bat!

Thats one ugly creature! but extremly well made. The desription makes this even better. A good description and explanation makes a massive difference. How long did this take you to design?
When did it suddenly become cool to hate everything? It's a growing problem, especially in the entertainment world, and no one benefits from an increasingly hard to please, pessimistic audience.
A Special Collection of photographs i found this month that still haunts my mind. Show them some love There are always some i can`t include due to space, i try to make the features under 50 deviations to give them better exposure
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
